Be the Change: Successful Intelligence and the New Global Competition for Talent

This forum-workshop, facilitated by Carol Carter, a national and international expert on first-year studies/college and career success, promises to provide an informative, inspirational, and practical exchange with high school and college faculty and staff who share the same commitment to world-class standards.

The Educational World is Flat: Igniting Student Passion

In this opening keynote session, Carol Carter will explore the global trends impacting teachers and students around the world. As teachers in the U.S. become more aware of what is happening in countries like India and China, they can better equip their students with the knowledge of the borderless world they will enter upon graduating from high school and college. We will also explore some of the top twenty issues facing the world and some of the pioneering role models who are boldly tackling these formidable problems. If students do not know, they can't understand. If they don't understand, they can't help. This session will give you a context to help your students understand how they can "be the change" and inspire fellow faculty members and staff to renew their passion, purpose and dedication to their mission.

Skill, Will, Self-Management: Becoming an Active Thinker

Success in college and the world of work depends on the extent to which students develop skill, will, and the self-management discipline to make their goals and dreams happen. This interactive session will focus on the lifelong learning techniques which can be honed the first year of college and developed every year thereafter.
